Where is Beyaz Köşk?
Beyaz Köşk, one of the three mansions in Emirgan Grove, is located in Sarıyer. The White Pavilion, built in the 19th century in Emirgan Korusu, the pearl of Sarıyer, which hosts some of the most beautiful views of the European Side of Istanbul, is one of the most important architectural works of its era.
History of the White Pavilion
The region, formerly known as Feridun Bey Gardens, was donated to Emirgûne Tahmasb, who was captured after the Revan campaign, by Sultan Murat IV in the 17th century. Today, it is known that the name Emirgan comes from Emirgûne Tahmasb. The White Pavilion was first built on this date by Emirgûne Tahmasb, who later became Yusuf Pasha, and then changed hands many times between different pashas until the 19th century.
The mansion, which was rebuilt in the 19th century, was purchased by Satvet Lütfi Tozan in 1930 and leased to the Turkish Touring Automobile Association in 1967. The White Pavilion has been operated by the Metropolitan Municipality since 1995.
