In Kars, a city popular for its cheese varieties, the cheese museum built in the historical Cavalry Bastion was recently opened to visitors. Built in 1734 to protect the city against incoming attacks, the restoration of the Cavalry Bastion and its transformation into a museum attracted people's attention and the Kars Cheese Museum became a hot topic.
The cheese museum, which was opened to visitors under the management of Kars Governor and Deputy Mayor Türker Öksüz, includes a barn section, buckets filled with milk, as well as sections describing life in the highlands and the process of making cheese. The museum, which also includes the history of the Cavalry Bastion, has a gruyere-making hall, cheese hall, video room, representative Kars Station, Kars vegetation, Ankara Gazi Station, Kars houses, chef's section and workshop sections.
The Kars Station and Ankara Gazi Station were created representatively in the museum. Just like today's Orient Express Train, the train travels between Kars Station and Ankara Gazi Station.
In order to introduce cheese making to local and foreign tourists, the adventure of cheese making is presented to visitors with animation. There is also a gruyere cheese at the entrance of the museum for promotional purposes.
Kars Cheese Museum, which also has the title of being Turkey's first cheese museum, has already managed to attract everyone's attention. This museum is located in Boğatepe Village of Kars. Thanks to the museum, the popularity of Boğatepe Village has also increased. Boğatepe Village is approximately 50 kilometers from the city center.
