Hidden Bays of Datça

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Datça is a town that makes those who go and see it addicted to it, and those who don't always have the sentence 'I must see it too' in their minds. A famous thinker described the peninsula as "If God wants his beloved servant to live a long life, he sends him to Datça". In ancient times, Christian people with leprosy were brought to this peninsula by ship and left there. However, when they came back later, it was seen that these people continued their lives. For this reason, Datça evokes healing.

Old Datça is an old residential area with stone houses and cozy cafes.

And what about the bays of Datça!

Let's take a look at its bays together. Datça fascinates people with its unspoiled nature, serene life, deep blue coasts and magnificent bays. At the point where the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea meet, you will not get enough of swimming on the peninsula with 52 bays.

1. Balıkaşıran Bay

The sea is clean and serene. This bay appeals mostly to tent and caravan campers, it is their favorite campsite. It stands out for being a quiet, calm and virgin bay. An important detail is that there are no businesses around. For this reason, you need to determine and provide all your needs in advance. It is useful to know that there are no facilities such as wc and shower in the bay.

2. Aquarium Bay

And of course, Aquarium Bay, which has been heard by everyone. You will reach this bay by sea after passing Kargı Bay, and you will definitely see it if you take a boat trip. You can also walk on foot from Kargı hill, but this method can be very challenging.

3.Aktur Kovanlık Bay (Small Bay)

When you head towards the center of Datça, you come to Kovanlık Nature Park, which corresponds to the longest coastline of Datça. This is the area where the well-known Aktur Site is located. Right where two sheep meet, back to back.

4.Aktur Çiftlik Bay (Big Bay)

This bay, known as Çiftlik Bay, is also called "Büyük Koy" by Akturcular. While this bay is less pristine and less green than Kovanlık Bay, it is by far the difference in terms of width. The beach is sandy and blue flagged. You can rent canoes, lasers and wind surfing from İskele Beach at the very beginning of the beach. The detail to watch out for is that it deepens quickly.

Although there is public transportation service between popular bays, renting a car can make your trip to Datça more practical and faster. So our suggestion is to visit RentiCar, rent the car you need and hit the road.
