2024 Highway and Bridge Tolls

In 2024, the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) announced a significant increase in highway and bridge tolls. Tolls on KGM-managed highways and Bosphorus bridges were raised by 76% on average, while the increase on privately operated highways and bridges under the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model was around 50% on average.
Since highway and bridge tolls vary depending on the distance and roads traveled, it is important to check these tolls before traveling to avoid unexpected situations.
Let's examine detailed information about the highway and bridge tolls between Izmir and Istanbul, as well as important crossing points such as Osmangazi Bridge, Çanakkale Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and July 15 Martyrs Bridge, which are frequently preferred especially for urban and intercity journeys.
HGS payment systems are used at all bridge crossings mentioned above, but for vehicles without HGS, there are cash payment counters at Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Osmangazi Bridge.

The classification of vehicles according to their wheelbase and number of axles is an important factor in the determination of Osmangazi Bridge tolls. The Osmangazi Bridge has greatly facilitated the journey between Izmir and Istanbul. Thanks to the Izmir-Istanbul highway, this journey now takes only 3.5 hours, which has led to frequently asked questions about the tolls of Osmangazi Bridge.
How to Pay Osmangazi Bridge Toll?
It is a matter of curiosity whether the Fast Pass System (HGS) is used on Osmangazi Bridge and whether it is valid. For those who will use this bridge, tolls can be easily paid with HGS. These systems, thanks to the electronic devices attached to the vehicles, allow you to pay the fee automatically without pausing during the bridge crossing. What about cash payments at Osmangazi Bridge?
Yes, cash payment option is also available on Osmangazi Bridge. If you do not have HGS, you can use the cash counters located at the entrances and exits of the bridge. You can also make your payments by topping up your existing HGS accounts online.
What is the Penalty for Not Paying the Osmangazi Bridge Toll?
If you do not pay your toll while crossing the Osmangazi Bridge and you receive a 'Notice of Violated Pass Without Payment', you must pay the toll within 15 days. If you do not pay within 15 days, you may have to pay four times the original fee. Therefore, the most sensible choice would be to use HGS systems or pay in cash when crossing the bridge. Otherwise, you could end up paying four times the amount you would otherwise have to pay, plus five times more with extra transaction fees.
Please note that the tolls of Osmangazi Bridge vary when combined with the tolls of the Istanbul-Izmir motorway. You can learn the details of these fees, which vary according to highway exits, from the table below.
