What are License Plate Colors and Their Meanings?

When we go out in traffic, we encounter many vehicles on the roads and sometimes we see that the license plate colors are different. Everyone has at least once wondered what these colors mean. So what are these colors and what do they mean? Let's take a quick look.
Yellow-Red License Plate Protocol License Plates
These plates, which are allocated to high-ranking state employees, primarily the president of the Republic of Turkey, are referred to as protocol plates and their colors are yellow and red. Yellow inscriptions are engraved on the red license plate. When we talk about high-level state officials, we are talking about officials such as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Chief of General Staff. The license plate has only numbers on it, and on the office car of the Speaker of the National Assembly, the red license plate reads 0001 in yellow numbers.
Green License Plate Foreign Linked License Plates
It is the license plate color used by foreign citizens residing in our country and working in consulates. In other words, the green license plate color is only used by ambassadors and consuls. White colored writings are embroidered on the green license plate. You can also see various letters on these plates. These mean the following:
CC: Consul office vehicles
CD Ambassador's official vehicles
CG: Consular officers with diplomatic exemption
CM: Embassy officials with diplomatic exemption
Red and White License Plate Senior Executive License Plates
If you see writing in red on a white background, this indicates that the vehicle belongs to a senior manager. These people are in the following positions:
-Security Director
-University Rectors
-Governor
The license plates have province codes and numbers on them.
Blue License Plate Police License Plate
The license plates in this color are the ones we are most familiar with and belong to the police officers of the General Directorate of Security. The blue license plate is embroidered with white lettering. There are province codes on the license plate and letters that change according to the office. The numbers at the end represent the department to which the police team belongs.
Black License Plate Official Vehicle License Plates
Vehicles used only for official service such as ambulances and fire brigades have black license plates and are the second most familiar license plates after police license plates. The black license plate is embroidered with white text. Institutional vehicles of ministries and municipalities also use black license plates.
Yellow License Plate Temporary License Plates
If you buy a new vehicle, you will be allocated a yellow license plate if your registration process has not yet been completed. Until your registration process is concluded, you will have a license plate with black-colored writings on the yellow plate so that you can drive on the road. Can be used between 1 week and 1 year.
